Assurance Of Forgiveness
The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
The Lord is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.
The Lord is near to all that call upon Him in truth. The good news is that God will save us through His Son Jesus Christ.

And also with you.
Prayer For Illumination
O Holy Spirit, open our ears to hear and understand the Scriptures this day, open our eyes to see the places of ministry where You call us to serve, and open our mouths to tell the good news of Jesus and His love, through His saving name.       Amen.
Sermon -   "Surprise, a Thief!"       Rev Dr Jim Moran
Call To Worship
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Thy name in all the earth!
Thou, Whose glory above the heavens is chanted by the mouth of babes and infants,
Thou hast founded a bulwark because of Thy foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.
When I look at Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars which Thou hast established;
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Thy name in all the earth!  (from Psalm 8)

Prayer Of Confession
Merciful God, You have given us so much. All that we need, Your hand has provided. You have blessed us with skills and talents, intending that we use them for the sake of others and to Your glory. But we have failed to give as we ought, and have guarded for ourselves that which You have called us to share with others. Forgive our selfish ways, and by Your good Spirit enable us gladly to serve You by serving others, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Silent prayer of personal confession.)
Call To Confession
Even though we are hopeless sinners, with the Psalmist, we pray, “Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors;
Let Your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low.
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name:
Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for Your name’s sake.”  (Psalm 79:8-9)
Let us approach God’s throne of grace, praying…
Watch, be sober, clothed in faith, hope, and love.
The Day of the Lord is coming like a thief in the night.
Jesus is coming so that we may live with Him.

Prayers of the People (Prayer requests are listed at the end of the bulletin.)
Prayer of Dedication
We bring unto You, our Father, these, our gifts, our tithes, our offerings and our sacrifices. We pray that Your seal would be upon them as they are used in this community and throughout the world.   Amen.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Affirmation Of Faith - “The Larger Catechism”
Q. Q. 56. How is Christ to be exalted in his coming again to judge the world?

A. Christ is to be exalted in his coming again to judge the world, in that he, who was unjustly judged and condemned by wicked men, shall come again at the last day in great power, and in the full manifestation of his own glory, and of his Father’s, with all his holy angels, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, to judge the world in righteousness.
