Assurance Of Forgiveness
While we are yet at a distance, our Father sees us, has compassion, and embraces us with a kiss.
Our Father calls His servants, “Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on my children, and put a ring on their hand, and shoes on their feet.
And bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat, drink, and be merry.
For these my children were dead and are alive again; they were lost and now are found.”  (Luke 15:20b, 22-24)
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH - “The Apostles’ Creed” (Ecumenical)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

“Now may the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do His will, working among us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Hebrews 13:20-21)
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call To Worship
O merciful God, in our darkness, You are light.
In our pain, You are healing.
In our sorrow, You are comfort.
In our anger, You are love.
In our hunger, You are bread.
In our thirst, You are water.
In our need, You are fullness.
Prayer Of Confession
O most holy God, we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. We have strayed like lost sheep wandering from Your secure fold. Taking the abundant life inherited we know in You, we squander Your grace in ungrateful living. Show us who we truly are: Your child. Open our eyes and hearts to becoming the person You have called us to be. Forgive us for our arrogant desire to be independent of You, our gracious Father. Restore us as Your children, through Your Son, our Lord Jesus.
(Silent prayer of personal confession.)
Call To Confession
Luke records the story of our sin: “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger!
I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired hands.’” (Luke 15:17-19)
With such recognition of our sin and our unworthiness, we confess our sinfulness by praying together…
Seek and see Jesus the light of the world.
Though we once were blind, now we see the light.
Go, shine the light of the world to all who will see.
