Affirmation Of Faith- “The Confession of 1967” (9.10 - 9.11, Book of Confessions)
The risen Christ is the Savior for all men. Those joined to him by faith are set right with God and commissioned to serve as his reconciling community. Christ is head of this community, the church, which began with the apostles and continues through all generations. The same Jesus Christ is the judge of all men. His judgment discloses the ultimate seriousness of life and gives promise of God’s final victory over the power of sin and death. To receive life from the risen Lord is to have life eternal; to refuse life from him is to choose the death which is separation from God. All who put their trust in Christ face divine judgment without fear, for the judge is their redeemer.

Almighty God, You have created us, chosen us, and called us to be Your people. We wait now to receive Your word of guidance and blessing. Grant unto us ears to hear, eyes to see, and faith to respond to Your love, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Call To Worship (Psalm 30:1-5)
I will extol You, O Lord, for You have drawn me up, and did not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me.
O Lord, You brought up my soul from Sheol, restored me to life from among those gone down to the Pit.
Sing praises to the Lord, O you His faithful ones, and give thanks to His holy name.
For His anger is but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime.
Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Prayer Of Confession
Loving God, we confess that we have been more concerned to preserve ourselves than to trust Your promises to be our fortress and deliverer. We gladly receive the gifts of Jesus’ body broken and blood shed for us; yet, we stubbornly resist living in the way that He calls us. Hear our confession that we deny Him and His way, and in mercy, forgive us. Help us by the power of Your Spirit to lay down our lives for the sake of Gospel. Whether we live or die, we belong to You. Help us diligently to seek You, in the name of the One crucified and raised from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Silent prayer of personal confession.)
Call To Confession (Romans 5:6, 8)
The Apostle Paul writes to the church in Rome, “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly….
God proves His love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.”
Still being sinners, let us confess our sin together praying…
Believe in God, believe also in Jesus.
We believe Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Almighty God, who loves us as Your children with a mother’s unconditional overflowing love, we are most grateful for Your not forsaking us because of our faithlessness in returning to You our love. Strengthen us in our faith so that we may return Your love generously through the use of our talents and gifts in helping others glorify you in worship, by feeding those who are hungry, by helping families keep shelter over them, through our financial giving, and with our compassion funded by the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
