Childern's Sermon   “Where is Jesus today?”
(Does everybody know what the first book in the Holy Bible is? Yes, Genesis. Genesis tells the story of the creation of the world by God. The same God who created everything that is living and that exists is the God we worship and know in Jesus. There was not much when God started creating the earth and all that exists. God spoke, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. That was the first day. Five days later everything was created by God that God created. God saw everything that was created and that it was very good. On the seventh day, God finished all the work of creation and rested on the seventh day. In other words, on the seventh day, if God did what I would do, God kicked back in the family recliner. God blessed this seventh day, which would be Saturday on our calendar, and made it holy as a day to rest from all work. Today we remember this day of rest as Christians on Sunday, the first day of the week, when God spoke light into existence because it is the day God raised Jesus from the dead. Sunday is our day of rest and worship. I want to remember two things: God created all that exists and called creation good. Also, on the last day of the seven days, God rested from all the work God had done in creation. Our creation is good! And, if God needed to rest one day out of the week, it is necessary that we humans, the created of God, rest, too.)
