Assurance Of Forgiveness (Romans 7:24-25a)
We say with Paul, “Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!”
My friends, believe the gospel: through the suffering, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!

Prayer For Illumination
O Father God, may the Holy Spirit open our ears so that we may hear and understand Your word. And also may the words of the preacher’s mouth and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to You, O Lord, our rock and our redeemer, in the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.

Call To Worship  (Psalm 24)
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who dwell therein.
For God founded the world upon the seas and made it firm upon the deep rivers.
Who can ascend the hill of the Lord? Who can stand in God’s holy place?
Those who have clean hands and pure hearts, who have not pledged themselves to falsehood.
Such is the generation of those who seek the Lord, for the Lord of hosts is a glorious Sovereign.
Lift up your heads, O mighty doors and gates, that the Lord of glory may enter in.
Prayer Of Confession
Hope of all the saints, You have called and sanctified us to be Your holy people, part of that great company that has lived and died in faith. But we have not always kept the faith. We have been silent when we should have proclaimed Your love. We have been idle when we should have been working for peace and justice. Forgive us when we have been ashamed of the gospel, Your power for everyone who has faith. Our lives are shaped more by fear than by faith. Have mercy on us, O Lord. Grant us courage to follow the path of that great company of saints, who throughout the ages have served You with robust faith, confident hope, and steadfast love, that with them we may inherit the kingdom promised, given, and ruled in majesty by Your Son, the Son of David, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(Silent prayer of personal confession.)
Call To Confession (Romans 7:14-20)
The Apostle Paul writes, “For we know that the law is spiritual; but I am of the flesh, sold into slavery under sin. I do not understand my own actions.
For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good.
But in fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh.
I can will what is right, but I cannot do it.
For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do.
Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.”
With the uncontested knowledge that we are sinners, let us together confess our sins to God, praying.....
Offer your body as a living sacrifice to God.
We shall be transformed by the renewing of our minds

Prayers of the People (Prayer requests are listed at the end of the bulletin.)
Prayer of Dedication
Almighty God, we are grateful: for the breath we breathe, the blessings we daily are given, the love we have and share, the gifts we have received from Your generous hand, and this day we worship You. Take our lives and let them be consecrated, Lord, to Thee so that we may glorify You with what we think, say, and do for another week, through the precious name of Jesus.   Amen.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Affirmation Of Faith - “The Confession of 1967”
I believe wherever the church exists, its members are both gathered in corporate life and dispersed in society for the sake of mission in the world. The church gathers to praise God, to hear his word for mankind, to baptize and to join in the Lord’s Supper, to pray for and present the world to him in worship, to enjoy fellowship, to receive instruction, strength, and comfort, to order and organize its own corporate life, to be tested, renewed, and reformed, and to speak and act in the world’s affairs as may be appropriate to the needs of the time. The church disperses to serve God wherever its members are, at work or play, in private or in the life of society. Their prayer and Bible study are part of the church’s worship and theological reflection. Their witness is the church’s evangelism. Their daily action in the world is the church in mission to the world. The quality of their relation with other persons is the measure of the church’s fidelity. Each member is the church in the world, endowed by the Spirit with some gift of ministry and is responsible for the integrity of his witness in his own particular situation. He is entitled to the guidance and support of the Christian community and is subject to its advice and correction. He in turn, in his own competence, helps to guide the church. Amen.
