Childern's Sermon   “Moses Parted the Red Sea
 “Moses Parted the Red Sea”

Exodus 14:19-31 “Moses Parted the Red Sea”
9/13/20

Have you ever stood on the beach and looked over the Atlantic Ocean as far as you could see? What did you see? (More and more water, waves, where the blue sky meets the ocean, lots of clouds far away, a fish jump, some beach birds, pelicans, sea gulls, a ship, etc.) Did you see any land? (no, only the land and beach I was standing on) Well, that is what Moses and the Israelites saw, only water and sky. What were they going to do with Pharaoh and his army right behind them? They were afraid and said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness?” They were hungry and had plenty of food in Egypt as slaves of the Pharaoh. Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance that the Lord will accomplish for you today….” (14:13) The Lord told Moses to lift his staff over the sea and divide it. Moses did. The Red Sea, all that water, parted with the blowing wind. The people of Israel went across the Red Sea on dry land.
Both the angel of God who was leading them and the cloud went behind the Israelites to protect them from the Egyptians. God protected Moses and the Israelites from Pharaoh and his army. They celebrated on the other side of the Red Sea with singing and dancing.
God will watch over you and take good care of you, too. I know your mother and father watch over and protect you, too. I promise you everybody in church will watch over and protect you, too. Your family loves you, your church friends love you, and God loves you. The next time you stand on the beach and look as far as you can see, remember that no matter what God will help you when you are afraid.
